Cocks come in all shapes, sizes and colors. The Chinese New Year is upon us. Artist Matthew Waldman explores the potential biology of animals real and imagined.
	He brings a scientific perspective to the fantastic, sparking a reexamination of childhood fantasies.

With the Fairy Labor Union™, he explores an alternate evolutionary biology free from water management and caloric considerations in the creation of a species for who the energy of life is channeled from a higher dimension. A species evolving in an environment free of the “feast or famine” cycle would have the “space” to develop in unforeseen and exciting ways. And like much of accepted theoretical science, creating an untested, but perhaps no less plausible reality.

With the Year of the Cock project, he presents the rooster from the Chinese zodiac in a new context. Playing with the lexica of astrology, a new view on 2005 is created. For more information, visit www.matthewwaldman.com
